Dr. Ang Wee Han
Dr. Ang Wee Han obtained a BSc with first class honours in Chemistry at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London in 1995 where he developed a passion for synthetic organometallic chemistry.
After spending 8 years with the Republic of Singapore Navy, he joined the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2003 under the Roche Research Fellowship to pursue a PhD with Prof. Paul Dyson, looking into strategies to overcome drug resistance in metal-based anticancer compounds. He was awarded the Prix EPFL de Doctorats for best thesis and the Prix Alliance de l'Invention for his doctoral work.
Building on his deep interest in bioinorganic chemistry, he joined Prof. Stephen Lippard at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the NUS Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2007 to investigate the phenomenon of transcription inhibition by platinated DNA lesions in cells. He started his independent research career as a principal investigator at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Department of Chemistry since 2009.
